Exercise should be priority and part of your daily routine.  Exercise is one of the most important things you can do for yourself and your family to ensure that you live an energetic, long, full, disease-free life. Regular physical activity increases your energy level. Those that exercise tend to fall asleep faster and sleep better, which allows you to truly feel rested every day.

If you've tried and failed in the past, then re-evaluate what went wrong. Did you try to do too much, too quickly? It’s very common for new exercisers to be overzealous when starting their workouts and end up either burning out or getting injured early on. Did you set unrealistic goals for yourself? Let our trainers keep you at a realistic, manageable pace that will give you results and keep you on track.

We offer private training as well in 30 and 60 minute sessions.

Refer a friend to join the club and receive one free private 30 minute session!

DO NOT LET FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN KEEP YOU FROM FITNESS

WHY YOU SHOULD START TO EXCERCISE RIGHT NOW

Excerpt from Featured Article : SPARKPEOPLE.COM   December 4, 2010

  • Your body will start responding positively to exercise—very quickly. That two minutes you can do on the elliptical machine today will probably turn into 10 minutes in a couple weeks, and 20 minutes within a couple of months. The 100 calories you burned will become 300 just as quickly, with more to come.

  • You don’t have to work super hard to get the results you’re looking for. One of the primary ways your body adapts to exercise is by doing the same exercise, but using less effort and energy. This means that working at a desirable level of intensity will very quickly start feeling easier even though you are actually doing more work than when you first started. In technical terms, this is called “getting in shape,” which you've probably heard of and maybe even experienced once or twice yourself.

The first few times you elevate your heart rate where it needs to be, you may feel like this is more than you can or want to endure on a regular basis. But that doesn’t matter, simply because that’s not what you have to do.

  • As you read this, you’re only a few exercise sessions away from being able to work out comfortably at the moderate level of aerobic exercise required to:
    • burn significant amounts of fat
    • reduce many risk factors for cardiovascular disease
    • produce positive brain-chemistry changes for your emotional and physical well-being.
By this time tomorrow, you can be one exercise session closer to these benefits. This is one of the times when the shoe company is right. JUST DO IT—you'll be glad you did.

Weight Loss Has Changed My Life

In 2008, if someone would have told me what my life would be like in 2010 I would have laughed in their face. Never in my wildest dreams would I believe I would ever feel this happy and have this much pride in myself.

In 2007, I weighed 252 pounds and I was immensely unhappy with how I looked and how I felt. My decision to attempt to loose weight began when I was shopping for a pair of jeans to wear over the holidays. I got very emotional when I discovered that a 40" waist no longer fit me. Then and there in the store I swore to myself that I was going to make a change. A month into my new lifestyle I decided to attempt something I had always feared, EXERCISE! I decided to ditch the bus home from work once a week and I walked the 4 miles home. The number on that scale kept dropping and I was feeling great. My exercise increased as I pushed my new body and discovered new limits.

One year after my journey began I was down 50 pounds. Friends and family where shocked at how different I looked and how much happier and full of life I was. Everyone wanted to know 'my weight loss secret'. I tried to give people tips on healthy eating and exercise but I told them there is no secret or quick cure. You can't just want to lose weight or get healthy, you have to do the work to achieve it. I noticed a big change in myself. I would regularly have a grin from ear to ear when I would get compliments about how well I looked. I never received compliments like that and it felt great. I wanted other people to experience this great feeling I have had since starting my new lifestyle. I wanted to share 'my secret' (diet and exercise) on a professional level so in 2009 I decided to quit my full time job and get a qualification as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. As of October 2010, I am 6 months away holding my qualification and I cannot wait to help people who were just like me 3 years previously.

I am reflecting on my journey today of all days because today I completed my first 5K. Running past that finish line was like finally reaching the top of a mountain I had been struggling up all my life and I did it! It hasn't always been an easy journey up that mountain, there were falls along the way but I dusted myself off and continued on because I didn't want to fall to the bottom again. Never underestimate yourself, work towards your goal, take small steps, enjoy the journey and you WILL get there.
